Live Review: The Sugar Club
Una Keane took to the stage. Una's relaxed onstage attitude quickly created an intimate atmosphere between herself and the growing crowd. Between songs she discussed such incidental things as the difficulty in ordering an orange juice in the Sugar Club, leading one to feel that one was sitting in her front room rather than watching her on stage.
This connection with the crowd provided a backdrop to Una's impressive set as her voice swooped and soared over the cascade of notes emanating from her piano, weaving through songs like "Harlequin Queen" and "Into the Reservoir" as she spanned the emotional range from despair to hope with the same ease with which she spanned the musical.
